Marquee changes at Boston Irish film fest

The annual Boston Irish Film Festival returns later this week sporting a new name -- it's now officially the Magners Irish Film Festival -- and an eclectic lineup put together by Peter Flynn, the event's director.

Tamar Simon Hoffs's ''Red Roses and Petrol" tells an old story: patriarch dies, family reunites, drama ensues. But Hoffs (mother of Bangles lead singer Susanna Hoffs, one of the film's executive producers) has gathered a notable cast to bring Joseph O'Connor's play to the screen. Malcolm McDowell stars as Enda Doyle, a poet whose death stirs up long-simmering family tensions. Olivia Tracey, Heather Juergensen, Max Beesley, and Susan Lynch give strong performances as Doyle's wife and children.
